As with many best-selling books, a movie follows. Sometimes the movie is better than the book while other times viewers are disappointed. The one thing that is consistent is if you enjoy a book, you're dying to see the movie. This was definitely the case with the Twilight saga. Hardly a fan existed anywhere that read the books that weren't holding their breath until they could see the movie.
How did the movie New Moon compare to the book? Many loved the movie for the romance, fantasy and action it provided viewers. Others loved the movie on its own merit, having never read the book. I always enjoy reading the book first so I can truly have an idea of what's going on in the movie. In addition, the movie brings to life the characters I loved in the book. However, if I've seen a movie first, I have to almost force myself to read the book. That's just me, though.
Twilight fans that didn't read the book, New Moon, absolutely loved the movie and wanted to see it over and over. However, some of the fans that read the book first were somewhat disappointed in the movie. Don't get me wrong – they loved the movie. After seeing Twilight and having to wait so long for New Moon, how could they not fall in love with their favorite characters all over again? What disappointed many fans; however, were some of the changes that were made in the movie.
The major changes that disappointed many Twilight fans was the scene in New Moon where Bella punches someone, which didn't actually take place in the books until the Eclipse book. The end of New Moon showed viewers a fight that didn't take place in the New Moon book either. While fans still loved the movie, many felt it would have been better had the writers not made such obvious changes. Still, overall, it's an award caliber movie and fans are eagerly awaiting the next Twilight movie!
